Call for Nominations – World Urban Parks Board of Directors 2025
World Urban Parks is pleased to announce the opening of nominations for its Board of Directors. As we prepare for our Annual General Meeting in October 2025, we are seeking visionary and committed leaders to help guide the organization into its next chapter.
This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of a global movement that champions urban parks, public spaces, and recreation as essential pillars of healthy, inclusive, and resilient cities.

Serving on the World Urban Parks Board is both an honor and a responsibility. As a Board Member, you will act as an ambassador and advocate for the organization — representing WUP at international events, contributing to strategic decision-making, and supporting initiatives that advance urban parks worldwide.
You’ll collaborate with a global network of experts, leaders, and practitioners, sharing knowledge and working together to amplify the voice of urban parks on a global stage.
At the same time, this role requires active engagement, time, and a genuine commitment to the mission of World Urban Parks. Your leadership will play a critical role in shaping the future of our organization and the sector we serve.
Available Positions
The Board of Directors is currently seeking nominations for six (6) vacant positions for this 2025:
- Universities / Research Institutes – 1 position
- Regional / Community Organizations – 1 position
- Park / City Agencies – 3 positions
- Business / Philanthropic Organizations – 1 position
Eligibility by Category:
- Universities / Research Institutes: Must be significantly engaged in research related to urban parks, public space, or related outcomes.
- Regional / Community Organizations: Must represent the wider community of urban park users, volunteers, or grassroots organizations.
- Park / City Agencies: Must hold responsibilities for planning and/or managing urban parks or city open spaces.
- Business / Philanthropic Organizations: Must demonstrate commercial or philanthropic commitment to urban parks or related community/environmental outcomes

- Deadline to Submit: August 9, 2025
All nominations must be submitted through the official form no later than the closing date.

Please note that once your application has been submitted, all nominations will undergo a review and approval process by the Governance Committee, followed by final consideration by the full World Urban Parks Board.

If approved, you will receive official confirmation of your appointment to the Board.
